CORRAL DE TIERRA, Monterey County — October 30, 2026. Residents traveling the Corral de Tierra Road corridor have a public record of two distinct storm-recovery items at milepost 4.6 following the February 2024 winter storms. A Monterey County Public Works project attachment lists a temporary asphalt berm and a separately described slope repair, each with its own budget or cost entry.
What did the county list?
In the winter-storm strategic-reserve attachment to Resolution 24-210, the temporary berm at Corral de Tierra Road milepost 4.6 is listed at $30,000, while the additional slope-repair line is listed at $125,000. The column header says “Cost Estimate or Actual Cost”. Those are distinct entries for a location in the wider road corridor; the schedule alone does not establish whether both amounts were ultimately spent or whether every contemplated repair was completed.
Why two entries?
A temporary asphalt berm can be a measure intended to redirect water, protect the travel surface or stabilize an edge while a more substantial repair is studied. A slope-repair line may address a different portion of the site or a later stage of work. The public table lists the categories but does not explain the engineering design, contractor, final payment or completion date. California58 will not infer those missing facts.
Is the site in Corral de Tierra Oaks?
Not necessarily. The county’s project description names a milepost on Corral de Tierra Road, not an address or parcel within one of the residential service areas. Corral de Tierra Oaks subdivisions 1–3 belong to CSA 44, and Oaks No. 4 to CSA 67. This roadway storm-response record is a county road program item, not proof that either subdivision district paid for or managed the project.
How to verify current conditions
Ask Monterey County Public Works for the exact project number and milepost, work orders, subsequent budget revisions and any notice of completion. For live conditions, consult the county’s road advisories and posted traffic controls. The 2024 document is not a warning of a current sinkhole, closure or unstable hillside in October 2026.
